Green Monster Talkatoo
No, don’t get mistaken by the – it ain’t no cockatoo. Definitely worth looking into if you want something to spruce up your coffee table with something different. The might seem rather menacing at first glance, but it works along the principle of giving out what you feed it – in this case, verbally. The Talkatoo is able to let your friends and family hear that you love them, or even when you miss them. Basically, it comes in the form of a necklace and has a little button that will record a 30-second voice message. Hitting the large button will let you hear your recorded message being played back, and you can repeat it as many times as desired, depending on how much battery life it has left within. Featuring high gloss, scratch resistant ink graphics which is applied to both sides of the pendant, the retails for $16.99.

Solar Power Auto Cooler
Although you can’t exactly switch your entire world of gadgets into solar-powered ones, you can certainly take care of the smaller gadgets. Having some sort of a fan to keep you cool when you’re not in the mood for air conditioning requires you to use more power from your car. However, if you picked up this you could easily handle taking some edge off of that heat.
You might not use it in place of your air conditioning all of the time, but sometimes that cold air isn’t necessary. For those times when you just want air flow this would work a whole lot better. Plus it’s the perfect solution for pet owners that sometimes leave their dog in the car for short periods. This isn’t the first solar fan for your car that’s been released, but it’s a whole lot cheaper than previous models. You can pick up one of these for

Kitchen Laptop Stand does double duty
This is definitely a device with my name on it. Despite that I’m a great cook I have the ability to absolutely destroy the kitchen even when I’m making the most simple of ingredients. It’s just a talent of mine. This laptop stand was made for those types in mind. If you enjoy reading your recipes off of a laptop you can feel safer knowing that there is a barrier between the laptop and certain death it would find in the kitchen. Plus, it can even be used for cookbooks.
I don’t know about anyone else, but I have to be careful with my cookbooks. I’ve already managed to permanently fuse a page or two together from spilling ingredients. This easily converts to double as a cookbook stand and a protector for it as well. Thanks to the design of the stand it’ll allow for you to alter the angle in which you view your laptop. You can pick up one of these for $35.95 through Amazon.

Retro Flip Down Clock
Sure every gadget you own comes with a built-in clock, from the microwave to your cellphone, it’s hard not to always know the time. However, if you’d like something a little more old fashioned then this could be a nice break from the digitized lives we lead. Instead of staring at an LCD screen with boring digital numbers you could pick this clock up that actually has character.
It works exactly like you’d guess a flip down clock would. The little plastic pieces just flip as the time changes, it’s pretty basic stuff. It runs with gear operated time machinery and with a single D battery can run month after month after month. You can pick up one of these for $36.64 through Chinavasion. Of course like all Chinavasion products if you order in bulk it gets a bit cheaper.

Gear Wheel IQ from Brando
What makes this puzzle unique is its construction. Some of you might remember back in the early eighties, when Rubik’s cube was at its ultimate prime, an you might have been like me and cheated on a Rubik’s cube by taking it apart.
I don’t think you can take this one apart, and if you did, it would probably be just as puzzling. You see, this Gear Wheel IQ is so named because spinning one side of this particular puzzle box causes another side to turn.
I figure that you would have to be some sort of genius to solve this one. I don’t think that I ever learned how to beat the Rubik’s Cube. It looks like it would be something that would be hard to put into words, and this Gear IQ looks like it requires some sort of complex mathematical formula of some type.
Apparently, there is some sort of turning wheel sound that this makes. It probably sounds a lot like some sort of kid’s toy with a turning dial. You should be able to get the Gear Wheel IQ from our friends at Brando for about $11.90.

Hands on with the Energizer Energi to Go Travel Kit
The Energizer Energi To Go Portable Power Travel Kit has a set up that I have seen before, like on the PowerPak from Technocel.
This kit comes with this rectangular battery unit that you see here. It can be charged up via USB. You can also plug it into the wall or even to a dashboard cigarette lighter. The unit has an indicator with four bars that will all be illuminated when the battery is full.
From there, you can charge a device like an iPod, or something with a mini USB. It has a two other connectors that I don’t recognize, but this product can charge most of the most popular mobile gadgets. This kit also has a travel case that puts the battery and the resultant connectors (including the plug-in) all in one zipper pouch.
It looks like this product would be a good gift for someone who travels, and you should be able to get it at Sky Mall for about $69.99.

Transformers Battle Ops Bumblebee
Let me start by congratulating the engineers of these toys. I mean, they really packed a lot into this robot toy, but that also made it quite complicated.
I am sort of ashamed to admit this, but it took me over an hour to fold up this robot into the Camaro, and that was with an attempt to follow the instructional pictures. I swear, this thing is as puzzling as a Rubik’s Cube. I’m sure you’ll have to help your kid out with this one.
There is something else that you should know if you are a parent. When this toy is in Camaro mode, it has a portion of its waist that will drag along the floor. It could potentially scratch up a tiled floor.
The toy makes some cool sounds at the touch of a button. For example, you can flick the gun to hear the sound of transforming, and, when you put on the “game face”, you can hear the sounds of shooting. The vocals sound completely stupid to me, like when it says “No one can stop Bumblebee”. Man, that wasn’t even in the movie, the good one or the horrible sequel.
This Battle Ops Bumblebee is slated to be a big ticket toy item this Christmas. It can be purchased now at Amazon, but it has a different name of Cyber Ops Bumblebee.

See this Underground Skyscraper Concept
This particular project is known as “Above Below” from Matthew Fromboluti. His proposal is a building that drills 900 feet into the ground, an “underground skyscraper”, for lack of a better term.
The designer sees this self-sustaining community being built in a now-abandoned 300-acre wide Lavender Pit Mine, which is essentially a giant hole in the ground in Bisbee, Arizona. You will note the windows that let in the sun so trees and other plants can be grown underground.
If nothing else, what you are looking at is a lair for the next over-the-top James Bond villain. You know, for those Roger Moore ones, not the more realistic Daniel Craig flicks. Yeah, you will probably never see Daniel Craig in this environment at the end of a James Bond film, but I can easily see Roger Moore or even Pierce Brosnan trying to evade the head villain or his henchmen in this underground forest, while the subterranean skyscraper blows up in a spectacular explosion.
Yes, this certainly looks like a nice place to live, if you have to live underground. Definitely better than Zion from those Matrix sequels.

Kensington ClickSafe Keyed Twin Laptop Lock
Whenever you’re out for work at a place with free Wi-Fi connectivity, you will probably need to practice holding your bladder since you wouldn’t want to leave your notebook lying there just like that while you spend a good five minutes answering the call of nature. Well, there are other less torturous methods to keep your place at the local cafe, and the might just be the ticket for you. Retailing for $69.99 a pop, it will deliver dual one click lock heads that offer a trio of rotational degrees of freedom which can be attached to hardware in a single step. You won’t need to have employees insert a key or follow multiple steps, since there is also a master key version available for the same price. No longer do you have to worry each time you leave your notebook on the table in a public place, and it is convenient around to tote around in your notebook bag without bogging you down.

Hands on with the Aluratek AUH100F USB to HDMI 720p Adapter
I had a chance to try out the AUH100F USB to HDMI Adapter, and I found it pretty handy for getting what is on my computer on the big screen.
Set up was pretty simple, but it required me buying HDMI cable, something that I didn’t have on me. I had some trouble on set-up connecting with my computer’s USB, but the CD Rom was there to smooth that out. It wasn’t as easy as plug-and-play.
I was able to get the 720p resolution with good sound, but I had one small problem: my television is a widescreen. So when my Windows were on my TV, Maximizing them made them so large that I couldn’t see the menu bar.
I had to shrink it up, but it was good enough to get hulu.com on my television, which was my main reason for getting this adapter.
So if you are in the market for trying to extend your desktop screen, or you want to simply put your laptop on your HDTV, this is probably the product for you. It has a limited 1 year warranty, and it costs $79.99.
